China is now universally acknowledged as essential to shaping the outcomes of the international climate negotiations. China is the world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases on an absolute basis and must urgently adapt to a changing climate as home to roughly one fifth of the world's population. China's actions, along with those of other major economies, will determine the future of our planet.
In preparation for the UNFCCC COP 21 negotiations in Paris, we invite you to the report launch and panel discussion of Mapping China's Climate Policy Formation Process, an analysis of how China forms climate change policy, the key stakeholders who participate in the process, and the future direction of China's climate change efforts.
At the report launch, the lead author of the report and a panel of experts will discuss the present and future evolution of China's climate change policies:
-Professor Craig HART, School of Environment & Natural Resources, Renmin University of China
-Dr. CHAI Qimin, Deputy Director, Strategy and Planning Department, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), (NDRC)
-Ms. WU Qian, Research Fellow, University of Edinburgh
-Mr. ZHENG Cheng, Vice President, China Beijing Environmental Exchange (CBEEX)
Mapping China's Climate Policy Formation Process was authored by Professor Craig Hart and graduate researchers Zhu Jiayan and Ying Jiahui of Renmin University of China's School of Environment & Natural Resources. The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing and The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Beijing, provided financial support for this project.
The report will be available in English at the launch event and on the China Carbon Forum website at CCF Publications.
